Texans vs. Browns score: Live updates, game stats as Deshaun Watson makes debut for Cleveland after suspension

0 0

We’re underway in Houston, where Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was sued by 25 women for allegations ranging from sexual harassment to sexual assault, is making his first start in 700 days on the road against his former team, the Houston Texans, in Week 13. Watson last played in Week 17 of the 2020 season in the Texans 41-38 home loss against the Tennessee Titans. The former 12th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft was traded to the Cleveland Browns this offseason for a six-pick package that included three first-round picks after sitting out the entire 2021 season. Following the trade, he signed a fully-guaranteed, five-year, $230 million extension with Cleveland, giving him the largest fully-guaranteed contract in league history.

The last season Watson took the field, 2020, he played like a top five quarterback, leading the NFL in passing yards (4,823) while ranking second in both completion percentage (70.2%) and passer rating (112.4) as well as finishing tied for the third-highest touchdown-to-interception ratio in the league (33-7). However, Browns running back Nick Chubb, the NFL’s third-leading rusher with 1,039 yards on the ground, will likely be the focal point for a Houston Texans defense that is the worst against the run in the entire league, allowing 168.6 on the ground per game.

While the Browns improved their record to 4-7 with a 23-17 overtime victory in Week 12 that kept their playoff hopes alive, the Texans are on track to have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft with 1-9-1 record this season. Will Watson have a triumphant return to NFL action following his 11-game suspension this season, or will the Texans play inspired enough to shock the Browns and their former face-of-the-franchise? Keep it locked to our live blog throughout as we update you with stats, scores, and highlights.
